An Evening of Words, Light and Expression: Poetry Night at Lowell
An Evening of Words, Light and Expression. Our Poetry Club students are performing live in a space lit by candles in brown paper bags. Creativity in action!

As the day turned to evening, the Basketball Court at Lowell Girls’ School became something new. The same court where our teams run and score was transformed into a stage for words.
Rows of brown paper bags lined the performance space, each one glowing softly with a candle inside. The warm light moved gently across the faces of the audience as students gathered, curious and a little hushed, waiting for the night to begin.
Then the Poetry Club took the stage. One by one, our students stepped into the light and shared their words: poems about who they are, what they feel and what they hope for. Some spoke softly, others with strength and fire, but each performance held the audience’s attention and drew warm applause.
The evening, themed An Evening of Words, Light and Expression, showed what Lowell girls can do when they are given a voice and a space to use it. Creativity, confidence, and courage were on display, and every girl who stood before the audience showed the community she has something worth saying.
Poetry Night reminded us that learning at Lowell goes beyond the classroom. It also lives in the arts, in the courage to perform and in the support of a community that listens.
Well done to our everyone who made the night glow! 🕯️💛
