Discounts at Lowell Girls' School

The school fees charged shall remain constant for all students, who will be required to pay in full, apart from the cases below, who will be assessed on a case-by-case basis:

Academic performance i.e. Lowell Achievers Award (100%)

Students who score grade 1 for senior one and 85% and above for Senior two) are eligible for this discount. For senior 3 and 4, scoring 10 aggregates in 8 subjects; while senior five and six its 18 points (Sciences) and 19 points (Arts). The discount only applies for only one term i.e. the following school term

Talent i.e. music or sports (10%)

A limit of up to 10% of the full school fees will be given to students who exhibit extraordinary talent in music or sports.

Returning student (10%)

For students who return at A-Level having successfully sat their O-Level exams at the school. The discount is a one-off discount at the start of the first term in Senior five.

Sibling discount (10%)

Offered to students who have a sibling already admitted and paying full fees in the school.

Directors’ bursary

The Directors at their discretion can offer a bursary to any girl who in their wisdom espouses the values of a Lowell Girl.

Presentation of books of accounts

  • 1. All cash MUST be deposited on the school bank account for accounting purposes.
  • 2. All payments made out should have the clearance of the Chair, Board of Governors.
  • 3. The school bursar should have detailed and clear books of accounts, at any time they are needed.
  • 4. The school bursar shall present to the Board of Governors detailed financial statements at the end of every term for audit purposes, as well as a detailed budget at the beginning of every term for approval.

    1. Requests for bursaries / discounts MUST be addressed to the Chair, Board of Governors in writing. Only upon receipt of a response to this letter will the discount take effect.

    2. Offering of discounts to the approved school fees structure does not take effect without the express permission of the Chair, Board of Governors. An administrator who effects a discount arbitrarily will be responsible for paying the difference.

    3. No single student can receive two different bursaries / discounts in a single term.

    1. The criteria for offering discounts shall be reviewed annually.

    2. Discounts are not automatic. They are subject to the prior review and approval of the Board of Governors.

    1. ONLY the school bursar shall receive or make payments on behalf of the school. No school officer / staff member is authorised to receive money, under any circumstances. Losses arising out of non-adherence to this will be borne by the responsible person.

    2. All school fees MUST be paid in full at the beginning of the school term. In a situation where a parent requires time to pay in instalments, such a request should be put to the Chair, Board of Governors in writing with a payment schedule agreed with the school bursar attached.

    3. Communications reminding parents to settle their outstanding fees shall be made to parents in line with the payment schedules agreed at the beginning of term.

    Outstanding fees
    • 1. All results slips should be kept in the office of the Bursar. Photocopying or taking copies of the results slip without authorisation of the bursar is NOT allowed.
    • 2. No student shall receive a school report or results slip without clearing with the school bursar. In case of fees arrears, these should be cleared in full.

    Benefits of Recommendations

    • 1. An amount totalling 50,000 Shs will be given to a student who recommends the school to other students, leading to successful admission. Every admission falling in this category should be verified before payment is made. Payment should be made at the school assembly in front of other fellow students.
    • 2. An amount totalling 100,000 Shs will be given to any individual who recommends the school to other students, leading to successful admission and full payment of the school fees. Payment will be prompt and instant at the stage of presenting of the bank slip of the admitted student. Every payment and recommendation made in this category should be communicated to the Chair, Board of Governors, by the school bursar, immediately upon payment, clearly, stating amount and recipient.
